Domenique Serfontein is the illustrator and storyteller behind Maiden Moose Studio, based in the beautiful Wicklow Mountains of Ireland.

Her illustrations celebrate the ethereal and whimsical beauty of animals and nature, often weaving them into scenes inspired by Irish landscapes and a gentle sense of nature nostalgia. With a childlike wonder for the natural world at the heart of her work, her illustrations are perfectly suited for picture books and for those who appreciate charming narratives with animal protagonists.

Working across a variety of disciplines—from picture books and editorial features to commercial commissions—Domenique has created illustrations for clients including Quarto Publishing, The O'Brien Press, Rizzoli UK, and IMAGE magazine, among others. Using a blend of traditional and digital media, her work aims to inspire empathy for the environment and tackle important narratives through a playful and positive lens.

With a BA in Graphic Design and currently completing her MA in Illustration at Falmouth University, Domenique is proudly represented by Carter at Tugeau2 Art + Literary Agency.

When she's not illustrating, you'll find her hiking the Wicklow trails with her husband and two dogs, Nina and Heidi, enjoying a spot of gaming or reading, or working away in her ever evolving little garden.
